Mountain and Forest Kingdom

Chapter 28 Rat Cake

At noon, Lawrence took Sophia to the stronghold on the mountain.

This was necessary, and Lawrence felt that he should let Sophia know what he was doing and have expectations for what "we" were going to do.

If Sophia does not support or resists these things, then building a stronghold on the mountain will be a lot more troublesome.

"That's the top of the mountain ahead." Lawrence walked in front holding a wooden stick to explore the way.

Sofia in the rear was holding the Dom sheep. Behind the Dom sheep, which was carrying blankets, sacks, stones and other supplies, was Salil who followed.

Salil had nothing to do these days and didn't want to stay in a quiet home, so she came over to help.

Sofia said happily: "Let's go there quickly!"

Lawrence looked at the uneven hills and piles of rocks around him, "Let's collect some soil here first."

Sofia looked at the hillside in front of her and the grassy area with stones everywhere, "What are you doing collecting soil here?"

Lawrence had already walked to the front, and after observing the surroundings to make sure there were no snakes or strange things lurking around, he slowly squatted down.

"We need to collect some soil in advance. This soft soil and dust can be used in many places. Forget about those small rocks, there are a lot of them above, so there is no need to find them here."

"Okay!" Sophia didn't ask too much and began to collect soil nearby according to Lawrence's instructions.

Salil came over and stood up. She looked at the blue sky and snow-capped mountains in the distance. The place was extremely empty and the field of vision was extremely broad.

After observing for more than ten seconds, Salil said in a serious tone: "Lawrence, I advise you not to spend the night in the mountains. It may rain tonight."

Lawrence raised his head and looked at the sky. He actually had no experience in this kind of thing.

The known weather forecast signs in my memory are probably ants moving, swallows flying low, or the air being dull.

Lawrence was not sure about the specific matter and quickly said:

"It doesn't matter. My shack should be able to block the storm. Is the storm here very strong? If it's too severe, I'd better go back and live there."

Salil thought for a moment, then looked at the sky and said, "It shouldn't be too big, but it will be very dangerous to spend the night in the rain. You will get sick."

Lawrence smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern. You are such a good girl, but Sophia and I spent the night several times on rainy days when we came here. We both have experience in this regard."

Salil nodded, "That's good. I've never slept outside the house. My father doesn't let me do that, and he doesn't let me go out on rainy days."

Lawrence understood Andrew's approach very well. There were countless dangers hidden in such mountains.

But Lawrence was still a little strange. Andrew's fatherly love was completely unlike what a hunter in the mountains would have.

Normally, children from families in the mountains are already in charge, and they cannot avoid the dangerous things they should do. Even if they are dangerous and troublesome, they have to do them in order to survive.

However, Andrew protected Salil very well, to the point of being ridiculously good, and it was not like the behavior that ordinary people should behave at all.

The father and daughter seemed to be hiding something. Lawrence didn't want to inquire about these troublesome things, so he kept silent rationally.

Maybe when the relationship gets better and they spend more time together, they will take the initiative to tell the inside story.

After all, we have only been together for more than half a month now, and we are not actually acquaintances yet.

Two baskets of soil were quickly filled, each basket filled with a third of the soil. Any more would affect walking.

Dom sheep are already carrying heavy loads, and no one will put pressure on them frequently unless necessary.

Lawrence carried one basket himself, and Saryl helped carry another.

"Saryl, I'll do it!" Sofia wanted to show off, wanting to do the same thing as Lawrence.

Salil didn't give it to her, "I'll just come. It's not heavy. You continue to be responsible for the investigation."

Lawrence walked quietly, without looking back, but he noticed that Salil may have inherited Andrew's brute strength in terms of strength, and he may not be as strong as this forest girl.

Sophia was a little depressed. Her body was still a little thin and she was not suitable for many strenuous activities.

But Sophia also had great talents. She quickly and dexterously walked to the front of the team, observing as a sentinel.

Neither Lawrence nor Sariel were talkative people, and even their movements were relatively slow and quiet. Sophia was running around, and soon reached the hillside first.

Just a few seconds after going up, Sophia discovered something.

"Master! There is prey in the trap! Let me see what it is!"

Lawrence raised his head and looked up, speeding up his pace and running the last ten meters to the top of the hillside.

Salil reached the hillside faster than him. Standing on the hillside, he could see the slightly sloping pine forest in front of him, as well as some random wood branches and a weed shack built from the branches.

Sofia was squatting outside the pine forest. There were many rocks the size of bread, and some stones that seemed to be buried in the soil.

Lawrence gasped and came to Sariel's side, and soon saw the collision trap he had set here.

The simple trap composed of stones and wooden sticks had been triggered. What was pressed under the twenty kilograms of stones was a small gray animal with its tail exposed.

It was obviously a mouse, and judging from the curved tail and the blood stains coming out of the cracks in the stones, it had been dead for a long time.

Sophia quickly moved the stone away, grabbed the mouse's tail with her hands, and lifted up the mouse that had been smashed into a round cake.

"My lord, this is a good sign! Your dinner is in order!"

Lawrence quietly looked at this small creature that had been frozen all night and was transformed into a patty mouse by the cold winter and stones. "Maybe it's not good news. If there are mice here, then my shack will have to face not only severe cold, but also A group of rats came to my house to escape the cold and eat and play."

Catching prey is a good thing, but catching a mouse only proves that your new home is in a mouse activity area.

You will encounter rats at night, you will hear their chirping, your farm tools and stored food will be bitten by rats, and you may even be at risk of being bitten by rats in the middle of the night.

Sofia said directly: "Then catch them all and eat them!"

Lawrence did not have such strong confidence.

Don't be afraid of thieves stealing, just be afraid of thieves missing you.

These rats, like flies and mosquitoes, consume human beings' patience and reserves, and attack them both mentally and materially.

They definitely didn't take the food secretly and leave. Meeting these rats when you are in a bad mental state is really torture.

move place? Lawrence quickly gave up this idea. This place was the most suitable place after searching for several days.

And as long as you are in the mountains, you cannot avoid the prying eyes of these rats.

Even if you go to the foot of the mountain, you still can't escape.

"It looks like we need to hunt more mice." Lawrence looked at the round cake in his hand. This originally fat autumn mouse was now as flat as a persimmon cake.

The temperature is lower in the mountains, so food can be stored for longer.

"Okay, put the things down and set some traps." Lawrence acted quickly.

As for the mouse cake in his hand, Lawrence quickly found a branch and hung it up.

"I hope these rat cakes won't be eaten by rats."
